Bracklesham Bay

The village of Bracklesham Bay offers a small selection of shops and restaurants typical of any English Seaside town. There is a fish and chip shop and just opposite, the 'Bracklesham Diner' serving
the very best of English Breakfasts, superb ice cream cones and a delicious selection of Chinese food. We can personally recommend it all. A restaurant not to be missed is 'Pond Barn Restaurant' that also does an extremely good value Sunday lunch.

  • For a special celebration meal we would recommend you book a table at 'Clifford's Cottage Restaurant' in Bracklesham Bay. The food is scrumptious and you are thoroughly spoilt, a wonderful culinary experience.

There is a wealth of shops in Bracklesham Bay and nearby East Wittering selling everything you could possibly need during your holiday so there is very little need to venture further afield if you would rather stay local. Buckets and spades, lilo's and wind shelters, kites and balls and all the usual paraphernalia that accompany a holiday by the Sea can be obtained locally.

Windsurfing is very popular in the waters off Bracklesham Bay and The Witterings. Great gatherings of wind surfers can often be found in the car park at the end of East Bracklesham Drive and it is a wonderful sight to see when the wind is blowing and the tide is high. The colourful sails racing at great speed over the water is thrilling to watch. There are toilets in the car park and refreshments are available too at the kiosk. If you enjoy a good walk there are many to be done in and around the area. From Bywaves itself you can turn left on the Beach and walk all the way to Selsey and perhaps enjoy a famous Selsey crab lunch or turn right and walk into Bracklesham Bay or beyond round to the Witterings.

  • A short 10 minute car journey from the chalet would take you to the Chichester Harbour Education centre at Dell Quay where there are often organised activities such as an Introduction to Birdwatching, family fun activities for 5-12 years and organised walks.

  • A little nearer at Itchenor you can get a boat trip around the Chichester harbour and again learn about the wealth of bird and wildlife that frequent the nature reserves in the area.

Further afield, but only about 20 minutes in the car and you could visit the Pagham Nature reserve on the road to Selsey.
Here there is often a wide variety of birdlife to see.

The area all around the Manhood Peninsular, which finds Bracklesham Bay situated on the most southerly coastline, is blessed with an abundance of naturally existing reserves for wildlife. There are many footpaths that criss cross the Peninsular and a good selection of pubs cooking homemade food on route!

The local Cathedral City of Chichester, a short 20 minute car journey from Bywaves has a comprehensive shopping area with many arcades and unusual shops offering very good quality gifts and clothing alongside many household names such as Boots and Marks and Spencer.

There are also large department stores on the outskirts of the City and a choice of drive-through restaurants.

There are boat trips on the Chichester Canal, join one of the guided cruises or hire your own rowing boat and take it all in at your own pace.

Among the many attractions to be found within a few miles radius of Bracklesham Bay is Chichester Harbour an area of natural beauty and the centre of yachting, windsurfing and boating.

The new City Gate entertainment development offers bars, restaurants, club and multi-screen cinema. This can be found just South of the Railway Station and has ample free parking on the development.
