Kittiwake Lodge in West Sussex

Beachside Holiday Lodges.
Your getaway that’s got it all.

What lies just an hour and a half’s drive from London, thanks to the recently opened Hindhead tunnel?

What can be found sitting quietly between the two better known seaside locations of Selsey to the East and The Witterings to the West?

Well known as an area on the South Coast recognised for fossil hunting. They can be washed up along the shore line – unearthed or brought to the surface by the recent storms.

I am, of course referring to Bracklesham Bay, home to the exclusive Holiday Park – Bywaves, and it’s really Bywaves that I want to talk about here. A small park of just 11 Lodges, partway through a complete re-development of infrastructure and above ground rebuilding work, due for completion in 2017. Bywaves would not be recognised by anyone who last visited prior to 2012 as the changes are far reaching and all-encompassing. Designed by ARA architects, specialists in coastal developments, no expense has been spared and this comes immediately to the fore as you enter the newly developed beach front section of the park.

The West Sussex/East Hampshire vicinity is steeped in history ancient and modern making Bywaves an ideal location to base a holiday home. There is plenty of entertainment in the Cathedral City of Chichester just 8 miles away where you can while away a lazy day shopping or enjoy a more hectic activity followed by a meal in one of the myriad restaurants to be found all around. There are also extremely good eateries within walking distance of Bywaves so there is no need to travel if you prefer not to.

Bracklesham Bay’s sandy beach may have taken a battering by the recent high spring tides but not to the detriment of a good traditional beach holiday.

The Beach is accessible directly from the Park – no roads to cross – in fact Bywaves is found at the very end of East Bracklesham Drive – the road ends at the park so no passing traffic either. Just a peaceful place to relax, listen to the rythm of the waves crashing on the shore, the gulls and other birdlife calling and watch people enjoying the sea with a variety of water sports available in the area. Bywaves is a hidden gem on the South Coast with views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight where you can observe the Ocean going Liners and other shipping visiting Portsmouth or Southampton docks. The horizon holds an ever changing scene.

Looking inland it is possible to see the South Downs, part of the newly designated South Downs National Park where the colours change as the seasons advance. From a vibrant Spring through a long hot Summer to the rich bounty of Autumn as the area relaxes into the Winter months when Nature takes over and curtails some outdoor activities. The natural wildness of the sea is never more apparent than when standing on the headland at Bywaves enjoying the exhilaration brought about by strong wind and spray. It is also the perfect location to fish if that is your passion with all sorts of fish line-caught from the headland.

Why not make Bywaves your destination this Spring and Summer, with holidays and relaxation in mind visit this little haven on the Manhood Peninsula and see if Bywaves offers you inspiration and the desire to investigate further the lifestyle and all the locality has to offer you.
